Implants
An implant is a way to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth. It is a surgical procedure where the Doctor prepares the site to accept the titanium dental implant body. The implant is restored in various ways to accommodate your specific situation.
Mini Implants
Mini implants are the same structure as a traditional implant but smaller in size. Mini implants are less invasive and require less healing time and are placed using local anesthesia. Mini implants can be utilized in certain cases where bone may not be ideal for a conventional implant or under dentures for stability. Bone graft
A bone graft maybe necessary when placing an implant. A patient may not have sufficient strong bone in which to place an implant due to infection. In this case the dentist would prepare the site for the implant and place bone material in the site with a membrane covering the entire site while it heals. After three months of healing the dentist would then x-ray the site and place an implant if the bone is sufficient.
Extraction
Your dentist may recommend a simple extraction if your tooth is severely decayed and cannot be saved or damaged by trauma. In a simple extraction, no surgery is needed to remove the tooth. The dentist anesthetizes the area and removes the tooth by gently applying pressure and rocking the tooth out of the socket. When the tooth is removed the site begins to heal and the dentist will go replacement tooth options for the area.
