What to Expect at your Child’s First Visit

Dr. Witkoski with two boys

Children are very important to the heart of the office.  When Dr. Witkowski, Jr. began his practice he cared for children who have now grown into adults and bring their children into see Dr. Witkowski for their check up and cleaning.  Our office does everything we can to make children feel comfortable.

Dr. L.J. Witkowski, when seeing a pediatric patient for the first time, will do a complimentary “meet and greet” with the doctor sitting and speaking with the parent(s) as well as the child.  When the patient is comfortable, we would move him/her into a room where they would be shown the “water gun,” “Mr. Thirsty,” and our toothbrush that we use to do their first cleaning.  A care package is made up of a toothbrush, toothpaste, and child flossers for them to take home.  The patient may then visit our toy basket to pick a toy of his/her liking.  Dr. L.J. will also make a balloon for the patient: animals, flowers, fishing pole, sword, and many more!

We also are very proud of our No Cavity Bell.  The bell sits near our front office and children can ring the bell if they have a cavity free exam.  Most children look forward to the exam in hopes of a cavity free exam so they may ring the bell.  It instills pride and joy in our pediatric patients to be able to announce they have a perfect 6-month checkup.  Finally, the patient would also sit for a quick magic trick by Dr. L.J. before going home.
